Police records are shedding light on the final hours of celebrity chef Anne Burrell, whose death at 55 last summer was ruled a suicide. An NYPD report newly obtained by People says investigators found a note described as "suicidal" in the primary bedroom of her Brooklyn home, along with similar journal entries on the bed, dated the morning of June 17, 2025. The report says Burrell's husband, who was not named in it, told police he became concerned when he noticed their bed was neatly made, which he said was unusual. He then discovered her on the bathroom floor near what the report calls "a bunch of over the counter pills." After failing to rouse her, he called 911, the report says.
The New York City medical examiner previously determined Burrell died of acute intoxication from a combination of diphenhydramine and cetirizine (both antihistamines), ethanol (alcohol), and amphetamine. Burrell was best known for hosting Food Network's Worst Cooks in America. Her husband, Stuart Claxton, said at the time that she had never talked about or attempted suicide.
