Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez pulled no punches in responding to her latest critic, reports Fox News, who came from within her own party. Sen. Claire McCaskill, a Missouri Democrat who was defeated in November, told CNN that she was "confused why she's the thing," adding that Ocasio-Cortez is a "a bright shiny new object, (who) came out of nowhere and surprised people when she beat a very experienced congressman." Over at Slate, Daniel Politi notes that McCaskill "was also more than a bit patronizing" in offering advice to the freshman, telling her "The rhetoric is cheap. Getting results is a lot harder."
Responded Ocasio-Cortez, "Not sure why fmr Sen. McCaskill keeps going on TV to call me a 'thing' and 'shiny object,' but it’s pretty disappointing. McCaskill promised she’d '100% back Trump up' on his anti-immigrant rhetoric & lost. In MO, almost all progressive ballot issues won." She also accused McCaskill of "covering for the GOP by saying they 'secretly think Trump is nuts'. Nobody cares. ... They're accomplices."
