Bhutto Seeks World's Help in Bomb Inquiry

After attending prayer services for the 139 killed in Friday's assassination attempt on her, Benazir Bhutto today called on Pakistan's government to seek international help in investigating, Reuters reports. The international community has the "anti-terrorism expertise to investigate attacks of this nature," said the former PM, vowing that even amid heightened security her campaign remains undeterred.

"We will continue to meet the people," Bhutto said, according to the Guardian. She thinks Islamic militants were behind the attack—questioning why street lights were out during the attack—but also suspects coordination from old enemies. "Supporters of the militants and al-Qaeda are determined to stop democracy because they don't want a moderate majority to stand up," she said.
