The University of Connecticut women's basketball team rallied tonight after a horrible first half to beat Stanford, 53-47, for its second consecutive undefeated championship season. The Huskies finished this season 39-0 and have won 78 games in a row. Coach Geno Auriemma's squad is now in position to challenge the UCLA men's team's record of 88 wins in a row.
Held to only five points through the first 12 minutes and trailing 20-12 at the break, Auriemma's Huskies bounced back and played like champs to claim their seventh national title. All of the Huskies' previous wins in the streak were by double digits.
