Greyhound Bus Killer Found Mentally Ill

The man who beheaded and partly cannibalized a passenger aboard a Greyhound bus last July was found not criminally responsible and will be committed to a mental institution, reports the Globe and Mail. Prosecution and defense both argued that Vince Li was tormented by voices he believed came from God when he stabbed 22-year-old Tim McLean to death, cut off his head, and then spread out his body parts in plastic bags throughout the bus.

The judge in Winnipeg, Manitoba, ruled that "certainly, he did not appreciate that the act he committed was morally wrong." Li will be subjected to annual mental health reviews and will not have a criminal record, although he is expected to be confined to a hospital for life. But the victim's sister, outside the courthouse, said "he is getting away with murder."
