(AP Photo/David Handschuh, File) The Obama campaign is striking back at Sarah Palin after she accused their candidate of “palling around with terrorists who targeted their own country." The comments are “offensive” and “not surprising,” said Obama’s campaign spokesman, given the McCain campaign’s vow to launch “Swift Boat-like attacks in hopes of deflecting attention from the nation's economic ills.” A senior Republican operative promised McCain's campaigning would "get a little tougher." Palin’s attack referred to Bill Ayers, who took part in bombings of federal buildings in the 1970s. Ayers and Obama have worked for the same nonprofit, but several news organizations have debunked claims that they are close. Obama was 8 years old when Ayers bombed buildings as a member of the Weather Underground, CNN reports. Read These Next Think twice if you're in the UAE recording any missile strikes.
