The president's planes are getting a makeover in President Trump's favored colors. Officials tell CBS News the US Air Force is phasing out the Kennedy-era robin's egg blue-and-white palette on its presidential and VIP aircraft in favor of a dark navy, deep red, gold, and white scheme preferred by Trump. USA Today reports that the new look "revives elements" of the color scheme Trump proposed in his first term; it was rejected in 2022 by the Air Force, which cited possible overheating issues tied to the darker colors.

The updated palette is being applied during scheduled maintenance to four smaller C-32 jets that can serve as Air Force Two and "carry high-priority personnel such as the first lady or top cabinet officials," per CBS, as well as two new Boeing 747-8is expected in 2028 and a former Qatari 747-8i being refitted to serve as Air Force One as soon as this summer. One C-32 has already emerged in the new look, with images first flagged by defense site the War Zone; see them here.
