A valet worker at a Hilton hotel in Dallas says she lost her job after posting a TikTok video warning that federal immigration agents were staying in the building. The 20-year-old, who identifies herself only as Gia for safety reasons, filmed a short video Wednesday at the Hilton Anatole showing unmarked vehicles she said belonged to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. "Quite frankly, I don't really care if I lose my job," she said in the clip. "I care more about your families and about unity."
Gia tells the Dallas Morning News that a manager at Towne Park, the third-party company that runs valet services at the hotel, ordered her to delete the post; when she refused, she was terminated for allegedly violating the firm's social media rules. In a statement, Towne Park said the employee "violated our business conduct policy and is no longer employed by our company." A spokesperson for the Hilton Anatole said the hotel contacted Towne Park after learning about the video and added that the property respects guest privacy and aims to remain a welcoming space for all.
The TikTok video drew more than 2.5 million views and has sparked online calls to boycott Hilton, per the Independent. Gia says she has also received threats on the platform. A college student studying nursing, she says she posted out of concern that "innocent people will be jailed and families separated" through immigration operations. She says she was especially worried about hotel staff who might be at risk, and emphasized that the videos do not show agents' faces. "I'm not trying to be political," she said, adding that she believes civil rights are being eroded. (Last week, Hilton dumped a Minneapolis-area hotel that had canceled reservations for ICE agents.)
