The wife of the woman fatally shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis this week has issued her first public statement, reports USA Today. Becca Good doesn't directly address the shooting itself, and she makes only a brief reference to the protest against Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents at which it took place:

  • "On Wednesday, January 7th, we stopped to support our neighbors. We had whistles. They had guns."

The rest of the tribute to Renee Nicole Good, who was 37, speaks of her devotion to her community and her family, including three young children. Kindness "radiated out of her," writes Becca Good. Another snippet:

  • "Renee lived by an overarching belief: there is kindness in the world and we need to do everything we can to find it where it resides and nurture it where it needs to grow. Renee was a Christian who knew that all religions teach the same essential truth: we are here to love each other, care for each other, and keep each other safe and whole." Read it in full via Minneapolis Public Radio.

KOMO previously reported that Renee Nicole Good's wife was filming the confrontation from outside the vehicle when the shooting happened. On Friday, Minnesota's top prosecutors asked people to share any videos or other evidence they have directly with them, after being shut out of the FBI investigation.
