The Princeton Review is out with an annual ranking of colleges and universities that has a decidedly practical focus: Which public schools provide the best bang for the buck? With tuition at sky-high levels, the ranking attempts to suss out the schools offering the best "return on investment." A number of factors go into the mix, including cost, academic quality, the availability of financial aid, and job prospects for future grads. This year, Georgia Tech (with an in-state tuition of about $10,500) heads the list. The top 10:

  1. Georgia Institute of Technology, in Atlanta
  2. The University of Virginia, in Charlottesville
  3. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
  4. The University of Calfornia-Irvine
  5. The University of California-Berkeley
  6. The University of California-San Diego
  7. The University of Michigan-Ann Arbor
  8. The University of Washington, in Seattle
  9. North Carolina State University, in Raleigh
  10. The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
