Looking to get out of Dodge? Your trip experience often begins and ends at the airport, and some are more pleasant than others. The Washington Post surveyed its readers for their top picks, spurring more than 2,300 responses. The paper's "Department of Data" columnist, Andrew Van Dam, added his own analysis via an algorithm he built, using those responses, plus more than 450,000 Yelp reviews for restaurants and shops inside airports, as well as the airport buildings themselves. His findings? Oregon's Portland International Airport is No. 1, which he describes as "an airport that has fun and wants you to do the same." Here, the top 10:
- Portland International Airport (Oregon)
- Long Beach Airport (California)
- Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (Virginia)
