Kentucky Manhunt Continues After Highway Shootings

Five seriously hurt on I-75 after nine vehicles were shot near rural city of London, say police

A manhunt continued Sunday morning for a gunman who police say shot multiple people on a stretch of I-75 in rural southeastern Kentucky. Authorities say five people were seriously injured.
  • Nine vehicles: Laurel County sheriff's deputies "found nine vehicles had been shot into both north and south bound on I-75 and five persons were seriously injured," says a post from the sheriff's office. The shootings took place near exit 49, about 8 miles north of the small city of London, Kentucky, with the first calls to police coming in about 5:30pm Saturday, reports the AP.
  • Other injuries: London Mayor Randall Weddle said in a video that he was told seven people were injured in all, including some in vehicle crashes. "There are no deceased at this time," he said. "No one was killed from this, thankfully, but we ask that you continue to pray."

  • The search: Police have identified a person of interest in the shootings as Joseph A. Couch, 32, who is described as a 5-foot-10 white male weighing about 155 pounds, per NBC News. Police have not speculated about a motive.
