US gymnasts Shawn Johnson and Nastia Liukin were edged out of a gold medal yesterday in the floor exercise competition by Romania's Sandra Izbasa—but Johnson took the silver and Liukin the bronze. It was the third silver for Johnson who has one last chance for Olympic gold tomorrow on the balance beam, reports the Los Angeles Times.

"It's been draining," Johnson said after the competition. "I've given everything I've got. I tried so hard tonight." Asked about continuing to compete in next year's world championships, she said: "It will depend on my body." Liukin was thrilled with her bronze to add to her silver and gold. "I want to beat my dad," said the Dallas gymnast, whose father and coach won four medals in 1988 for the Soviet Union.
