John McCain smacked Barack Obama on Iran today, telling a pro-Israel lobbying group the Democrat wanted to meet with “the world’s chief sponsor of terrorism … as if it were some sudden inspiration.” As the Republican proposed to lead a world divestment campaign echoing that against South African apartheid, he said a President Obama, meanwhile, would get “an earful of anti-Semitic rants.”
Team Obama struck back at a “dangerous and failed foreign policy,” the Chicago Tribune reports, and accused McCain of hypocrisy: He “promises a divestment campaign, even though he refused to sign on to Barack Obama's bipartisan divestment bill” and “refused to get his colleagues to lift an anonymous hold on the bill.”
