Technology | Elon Musk Elon Musk: $20M Tweet Was 'Worth It' Tesla CEO also says he's taking a break from Twitter for a while By Polly Davis Doig Posted Oct 28, 2018 8:35 AM CDT Copied In this Sept. 17, 2018, file photo SpaceX founder and chief executive Elon Musk speaks in Hawthorne, Calif. (AP Photo/Chris Carlson, File) Elon Musk apparently has no regrets about a tweet that set him and Tesla back each $20 million. In a tweet late Friday—just before tweeting that he would be taking a break from Twitter—Musk responded to a question about his ill-fated tweet claiming he would take the company private, which resulted in $40 million in SEC fines and him stepping down as company chairman, reports Reuters. "Worth It," he tweeted. Given that the ink is barely dry on the SEC fines, Gizmodo thinks that Musk's plan to take a break from "(firing) off word salad at all hours of the day and night" for a while "doesn’t seem like such a bad long-term plan."
