It’s official: Nicolas Cage is not a chihuahua kleptomaniac, former co-star Kathleen Turner admits. Turner settled a libel lawsuit with Cage, confessing that she’d lied when she wrote that Cage had been “arrested twice for drunk-driving and, I think, for stealing a dog.” Turner and her co-defendants agreed to pay Cage’s legal fees and make a “substantial” donation to charity.
The claims first appeared in Turner’s autobiography Send Yourself Roses and were reprinted in a Daily Mail article entitled “Why I detest Burt Reynolds and Nicolas Cage.” “He’d come across a chihuahua he liked and stuck it in his jacket,” Turner wrote. The two starred together in the 1986 film Peggy Sue Got Married, the Daily Telegraph notes.
