The unidentified person was advising Kurdish Peshmerga forces near Irbil and was reportedly killed by direct fire from ISIS a few miles back from the front lines. "It is a combat death," says defense chief Ash Carter. Another American was killed in March in a rocket attack on a base in northern Iraq, and such headlines could become more familiar: The US is sending 200 additional troops to the country to fight ISIS.
