Ky. Clerk Defies SCOTUS, Still Won't Issue Licenses

Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis reported to work this morning to "face her moment of truth." But the Kentucky official who's been refusing to issue same-sex marriage licenses ignored yesterday's Supreme Court rejection of her appeal for an "asylum for her conscience" and, "under God's authority," turned away this morning's couples looking to procure marriage licenses, the AP reports. Davis reportedly came out of her office this morning to confront the couples, including David Moore and David Ermold, who've already been shunned by her office four times.

Moore and Ermold refused to leave after she asked them to, with Ermold declaring, "We're not leaving until we have a license." Per the AP, Davis retorted, "Then you're going to have a long day" as supporters "whooped" from the back of the room and encouraged her with "Praise the Lord" and "stand your ground"; others called her a bigot and instructed her to "do your job." (Gay marriage is now legal throughout the land.)
