Flag Removed, SC Can Now Host March Madness

South Carolina's removal of the Confederate flag down from its capitol on Friday had a couple of unanticipated ripple effects, reports MSNBC: First, the NAACP ended its 15-year-old boycott of the Palmetto State; president Cornell William Brooks had praised the state's move as a denouncement of "an odious emblem of a bygone era." The NCAA had also boycotted South Carolina since 2001, with the net result being that no pre-selected NCAA events could be held there. Without the flag, the NCAA says South Carolina may now "bid to host future NCAA championships," including March Madness. (Meanwhile, Kid Rock didn't mince words when addressing those who don't like his use of the flag.)
