Iran Cyber Chief Dead: Assassination or Not?

This much is clear: The head of Iran's "cyber war" computer defenses is dead. But how it happened is still a mystery. The Telegraph reports that Mojtaba Ahmadi was found shot to death in the woods, and it quotes a local police official as saying two men on a motorbike assassinated him. The report speculates that the killing is similar to the assassinations of several nuclear scientists in Iran since 2007, killings that Iran blames on Israel.

Ahmadi belonged to Iran's Revolutionary Guard, which issued a statement denying reports of an assassination, reports the International Business Times. "In the wake of a horrific incident involving one of the IRGC officials ... the matter is being investigated and the main reason of the event and the motive of the attacker has not been specified," it said in a statement picked up by Reuters.
