US Envoy Visits North Korean Reactor

A top US official got a rare glimpse of North Korea's nuclear reactor on a visit to ensure the reclusive nation is on track toward disabling its weapons program, the BBC reports. Christopher Hill also met with the North's foreign minister to discuss Pyongyang's timetable on declaring all of its nuclear assets ahead of six-nation talks on the issue.

"In the context of complete denuclearization, we would look forward to establishing complete diplomatic relations," said Hill, the highest-ranking US official to visit the North's only operational reactor. North Korea is in the process of disabling the reactor in exchange for international aid. It also is due to submit a list of all its projects by year's end, but that goal may not be reached.
