Seattle Superhero Makes Court Appearance

Even superheroes aren't above the law. Self-appointed Seattle crime-fighter Phoenix Jones was in court last week following his arrest in a pepper-spray debacle. No charges have yet been filed against Jones' mild-mannered alter-ego (read: real identity), one Benjamin Fodor; prosecutors told the judge they want more time to make a decision, the Seattle Times reports. Fodor was arrested after blasting pepper spray at people; he says he was breaking up a fight.

And his run-in with the law hasn't stopped him from his mission. After the hearing, Fodor ripped off his shirt, Superman-style, to display his superhero costume. "I will continue to patrol with my team, probably tonight," he told reporters. "In addition to being Phoenix Jones, I am also Ben Fodor, father and brother," he noted. "I am just like everybody else. The only difference is that I try to stop crime in my neighborhood and everywhere else."
