DSK Claims Diplomatic Immunity In NYC Case

Dominique Strauss-Kahn's lawyers have asked a judge to dismiss a civil case brought against him by a hotel maid who claims the former IMF chief sexually assaulted her. The Frenchman's lawyers argue that at the time the suit was filed he was still covered by diplomatic immunity under a United Nations convention covering the heads of certain international agencies, Reuters reports.

Prosecutors in New York have already dropped all charges against Strauss-Kahn because they lacked faith in his accuser, Nafissatou Diallo. Her lawyer issued a statement slamming Strauss-Kahn's attempt to have her civil suit dismissed. "This baseless motion is another desperate attempt to avoid having to answer for the deplorable acts he committed against Ms. Diallo," he said.
