(AP Photo/Kevin Lamarque, POOL) The ratings are in for President Obama's jobs speech to Congress, and White House spin doctors will be relieved to know he outdrew the NFL opener later that night. Nuggets from USA Today and the Los Angeles Times. Nielsen says 31.4 million people watched his 7pm speech, more than the 27.2 million who tuned in to the NFL opener 90 minutes later. Fox News viewers led the cable networks with 3.4 million viewers, ahead of CNN (1.8 million) and MSNBC (1.6 million). The president's numbers are down from the 42.8 million who watched his State of the Union speech in January and the 56.5 million who watched him announced the death of Osama bin Laden.
