Politics | debt ceiling Obama Staffer Slams Krugman, Liberal Bloggers NM campaign director blasts 'Firebaggers' By Rob Quinn Posted Aug 18, 2011 3:22 AM CDT Copied Paul Krugman, winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics for 2008, is an "ideologue" and a "political rookie," according to the Obama staffer's email. (AP Photo/Fredrik Persson, Scanpix Sweden) President Obama's campaign director in New Mexico has gone on the offensive—against liberals. Ray Sandoval sent supporters an email containing a blog post describing the debt ceiling deal as an "out-and-out win for the president," and blasting Nobel Prize-winning New York Times columnist Paul Krugman and the "Firebagger Lefty blogosphere," reports the Huffington Post. Krugman, who declared the deal a disaster, is described as a "political rookie." The blog post, by Spandan Chakrabarti of the People's View, can be read in its entirety here. The term "Firebagger" appears to be an attempt to combine "Teabagger" and the leftist blog FireDogLake. "What exactly does Obama For America think they stand to gain by ridiculing Krugman as a ‘political rookie,’ a hysterical ‘fanatic’ and an ‘ideologue?'" asked FireDogLake author Jane Hamsher. An Obama aide said the views in Sandoval's email do not represent those of the campaign. Read These Next Hundreds of South Koreans were detained at a Georgia factory site.
