Crime | Barefoot Bandit ‘Barefoot Bandit’ May Not Be Able to Sell His Story Colton Harris-Moore reportedly near plea deal to resolve case By John Johnson Posted Jun 9, 2011 12:41 PM CDT Copied This is a July 2009 self-portrait provided by the Island County Sheriff's Office showing Colton Harris-Moore, he so-called "Barefoot Bandit." (AP Photo/Island County Sheriff's Office via The Herald) "Barefoot Bandit" Colton Harris-Moore appeared in court today to again plead not guilty to a slew of charges, but it looks like he's close to a plea deal to resolve the case, reports the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. The outline could be out this week, but it likely involves him admitting to federal charges and having state and local charges dropped related to his epic plane-stealing, boat-hijacking flight from justice. His attorneys earlier said they hoped to get him a 4-year sentence. One new wrinkle: Federal prosecutors want the 20-year-old to forfeit any profits from the selling of his story. Harris-Moore's attorney is balking at that and says his client wants any future money to pay restitution. "He does not want to make a dime off of it," says the attorney. "He thinks it's wrong. He doesn't want his family to make a dime off of it." Click for more on Harris-Moore's epic time on the lam. Read These Next Mark Zuckerberg's 'list' has Silicon Valley buzzing.
