During the recent budget brawl, Republican Sen. Jon Kyl argued against government funding for Planned Parenthood—since, as he said, "well over 90% of what Planned Parenthood does" is abortions. "That is unbelievable!" said Stephen Colbert last night. "In that it is not true. Because only 3% of what Planned Parenthood does is abortions. Kyl just rounded up to the nearest 90." But at least Kyl had an explanation, as his office noted: "His remark was not intended to be a factual statement."
"That is an amazingly liberating defense," Colbert marveled. "Now I can say things like, 'Jon Kyl has a vestigial tail, and it's not where you'd think it would be. There's a reason he never wears a tank top. Note: That was not intended to be a factual statement.'" Colbert also cracked himself up while taking down another claim, by Fox & Friends, that Walgreens also offers many of Planned Parenthood's non-abortion services.
