Libya Condemns 'Barbaric Aggression'

Libya has quickly condemned the attacks by the US and other nations as a "barbaric aggression" that has wounded a "large number of civilians" and caused heavy damage, reports the Times of India. "The pretext that this aggression is designed to protect civilians is contradicted by what has happened on the ground tonight," said the leader of Libya's parliament, Abul Qasim al-Zuai. He offered no details, and his claims couldn't be confirmed.

Russia, meanwhile, carped that the UN resolution authorizing this force was "hastily adopted," notes CNN. A statement from the Foreign Ministry urged the West and both sides in Libya to put a "speedy cease-fire" in place. Russia abstained from the vote in the Security Council rather than issuing a veto, which allowed the measure to pass.
